A 5 Year Old's Perspective on Easter

I was driving my precious niece to school this morning.
We were having our usual intellectual conversation.
She is one of the smartest 5 year olds I know..but I'm not bias in any way.

I asked her if she knew what Easter was all about...
(I wish you could hear her say it with the most empathetic voice possible, soft and sweet)
Her answer exactly,
"Well, Jesus..he died for us."

"He did, Emma", I reply. Then I exclaim,
"But guess what? He actually came back to life on Easter!"

Her eyes grow in amazement.
"Really?"

I answer, "Yes, really!"

And this was the best part of the conversation.
A statement to top all statements!
This 5 year old tells me,
"God must really love us."

"You're right", I say, "He does."

And there you go, a 5 year old's perspective on Easter.
It doesn't get much better than that.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Happy Compliment Day!

I hopped on over to the convenient store this a.m. to get my newest addiction..
French vanilla cappuccino! Sugar free of course!
Yumm.
I was checking out when the friendliest lady complimented sweetly on my outfit of the day.
It made my day.
It was that easy.
It is always the little things that make my day.

So, if you want to join in with me, let us try together to compliment 3 people today!

Happy compliment day!
You never know whose day you will make.

Letting Go

I am a perfectionist.
It is my least favorite attribute.
It deters me from living.
Living fully.
I want my life to be perfect.
I have to plan it all out.
I have to be in full control.
What comes with wanting perfect is losing.
Losing myself.

Pause on Purpose (Part II)

If you read yesterday's post Pause on Purpose then perhaps you set aside 60 seconds to talk with God.
I hope you did!
But if not, no biggy, I forgot too!
We will try again today.
I love Grace and how God constantly forgives. He forgets my mishaps as much as I forget to pray!
He is pretty awesome, I must say.

Funny story about my 60 seconds.
So..I missed mine completely.
I have my cell phone set to military time.
I like it, I don't know why...
Anywhoo, I set my time to 4:08. Whoops!
What a lovely surprise when my alarm went off at 4:08 this morning!!
If you know military time, my mistake was not setting it to 1608, which is 4:08 P.M.!
Haha, silly me.

Pause on Purpose

This will be short.

Pause for 60 seconds to read.

I have to accredit this idea to Jerry S., a preacher who spoke on 'pausing on purpose'.

I want to ask that you, the reader, to pause life for just 60 seconds each day this week.
It can be whatever time suits you, 4:15, 6:30, whenever...and for that 60 seconds talk to God.

That is all I ask.

Now go set your alarms.

Come back tomorrow for more on this topic...

The Remedy

Here is a little fact about muah, I love me some Jason Mraz!
His voice soothes my soul.

Here is one of my favorites. It seems to always make me smile~
Hope it does the same for you!
It is kind of a silly video, but I like some silly in my life!

The Remedy- Jason Mraz

Matthew 6:25-27
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Don't worry your life away!

Hurts to Hallelujahs

It sat on the edge of my desk.
Black
and white.
Embossed with a cross on the worn cover, with the title reading..

The Holy Bible.
It was a target.

I was once told that when you are in the light you see more of the dark.
AND
All the trials and tribulations we go through are directly linked to the glory coming our way.

Persecution. We should rejoice in it, for great our reward will be in Heaven...

Rejoice? Be happy? About persecution?...

FAITH. FAMILY. DUCKS.

Duck. Dynasty.

I am shocked I have not written a post over this amazing family, The Robertson's.
I am extremely glad my aunt made me sit down and watch these guys a few months back.
Talk about using a platform to share The Gospel with the world!

If you have yet to watch Duck Dynasty on A&E, PLEASE, pretty please, sit down and watch just one!
It comes on every Wednesday night.
That is all it takes. You will be hooked.

IF you want to know a little more about them, here is a link:
But the best way is to watch their show.
And please watch the video below, as well!

Even if you do know all about them, you will still thoroughly enjoy the video below.

This is an interview with Jase Robertson, one of the 4 Robertson sons.
He talks about Hollywood, reality TV, and most importantly keeping the faith.
You will be amazed, I am sure of it!

Mark 16:15
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation."

Tuning Out!

Man oh man, was yesterday in East Texas not just incredible?
It was a remarkably perfect day, as the weather is concerned!

I went for a little run yesterday afternoon, just couldn't help myself!

I had trouble locating my ipod, so decided to go solo!
I'm glad I did!
(Sorry for the extra exclamation marks, but they're necessary.)
I was able to hear the pretty birds chirping, and just nature... sounding like it's good ol' self.

I was strolling along, past a house I always run by. An older gentleman was sitting on the front porch and as I passed by he asked how I was. We had a short 20 second convo as I kept running.
Had I worn my headphones I would have never heard him!

Sometimes I think I am too distracted or just tune the world out, along with God..and we miss out on new relationships, GOD and life perhaps.

Maybe it is time I take those headphones out and tune God in.

John 8:47
"Whoever is of God hears the words of God..."

You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile

Recently, I have had several 'grocery store' convos. One conversation was about grocery stores in South Dakota. People do not go down an aisle if someone is already on that aisle, is that not the craziest thing you have ever heard?!

It seems extreme, but I decided to give something a shot yesterday...
I was in Wal Mart for an hour, up and down most of the aisles pushing my little cart. As a stranger approached I would look them straight in the eyes, smiling the whole way. ONCE, only one time did a sweet older gentleman meet my eyes and smile back. We exchanged a simple hello, how are you...it was the most pleasant encounter ever! Maybe because I was searching for it.

I have noticed any eye contact with strangers at a grocery store, is near impossible! Seriously, try it!

That gentleman had no idea that his smile would lift my spirits!

What if a smile and hello made the day of a stranger?

Green With Envy

True story.

I click on over to Cara Loren's blog. I start scrolling through her page.... I become covetous. I want her hair. I want her clothes. I want her life. Then I start looking for flaws, searching for that imperfection. Comparing what I have that is better....All in 60 seconds.

Jealousy.
Envy.
An emotional rivalry.
Competition.
Threatening.
....Feelings toward another person's advantages or accomplishments.
....Resentment toward a more fortunate person.
This is what google says jealousy is.

I say it is..

Abraham, A Man of Faith

Last night the new series, "The Bible", premiered. I was so excited to see a series finally take to the television about the most important parts of history.

Abraham's story really stuck out..man was his faith tested.

God tells him to go from his father's house to a land unknown, but have faith that he will make a great nation...

Well, He did not say it would be easy. Abram and Sarah tried to have a child...but almost lost hope.

Hagar (the servant) did have a son, Ishmael, for Abraham. But his wife Sarah, had to indure a lifetime of waiting to have child.

Could you imagine Sarah's long wait into her 80's to have a child, and Abraham in his 90's! When Sarah finally did have their son, Isaac, Abraham had to send Ishmael away. I cannot imagine sending your own child away, talk about trusting God. Then years later, God tells you that you must sacrifice your other son!
